Knight Wolf 1981.

In this edition of Artist Weekly, we have fun getting to know Knight Wolf 1981.

Published 11th November 2022

Knight Wolf 1981 music is incredible, Retrowave, synths that are a true reminder of us 80s kids childhood memories. He himself is full of nostalgia for his arcade games and where they take him back to. He is truly a storyteller. I very much get Kevin flying/clu from the epic Tron movie vibes from him. A man that has seen many things and wants to open people’s minds and imaginations to what else is out there. Regarding his music, you go on a journey back to the 80s. Retrowave, synths. Check out his music. His track Dirt City Lords and Gladiators is my favorites. Hope you enjoy this Artist Weekly. Till next time folks. -Synthwave83

Question One-

Synthwave83- Hey, So let’s get down to it. Knight Wolf 1981 with that name and your sound I’m instantly taken back to 70s/80s TV shows. What made you choose that artist name?

Knight Wolf 1981– Dawn, through the walls of time, I’m happy my data device has somehow reached your cyber frequency of the future. It allows me to share more of my story here in the time loop I find myself in, immersed in the 1980s. My name takes inspiration from some of the TV series which are already classics here in the 1980s, and there are too many to name. I’m sure you will still have archived history documents of them on slides at the library or on cassette tape. Plus, there is one additional layer to the name – only a few know this relevance, and it is significant. The reason? As a time traveler through the dimensions, top officials seek to uncover the secret nature of my unique quantum predicament. They only know of the name: Knight Wolf 1981.

Question Two-

Synthwave83- How would you describe your sound?

Knight Wolf 1981- Sound waves begin from feelings, reflections of experiences here in this 1980s time loop which surrounds me each day. Whether it’s recalling an underground drift race on a vast private estate, a speed race with the greatest drivers in the world on the secret island which I visit or simply watching over the city at night, observing it, protecting it, each piece of music sent through the threads of time is not even a sound at all. It is a state of higher emotion which you become tuned into, a radio channel if you will, which unlocks a state of mind here in this neon bliss of the 1980s; it places you there and creates a finely tuned glow of energy. What is nostalgia? A teleportation to a most excellent time of ultimate pastel colors and neon radness.

Question Three-

Synthwave83- You released three albums in 2020, which are fantastic. I see you’ve paused making music this year. What can we expect from you in the future?

Knight Wolf 1981- Time is not linear. What you perceive as a pause in your future of flying cars and hoverboards remains a simple deviation in the measurability of “now”. Think of it like sets of waves coming from the ocean. Some days bring peaks of highs, rolling in like white horses with a few seconds of space in between. Other times, see calm and irregular rhythms of changing power. Yet, across each scenario, the ocean flows. The ocean is one. Music is one flow, just a different set rolling in.

My future is your past. To breach the walls of time, I’ve buried the music near Bandcamp here for you to find in the future. From my data device, I understand that your usual listening spaces for music have tapped into these growing audio vibrations like heat rising from the asphalt on a hot Miami night. It somehow displaces and counteracts the frequency hum of the universe – makes it radical, makes it whole.

When you visit those usual places for music, you will always find it: Knight Wolf 1981. Soon, a new phase of discovery will take place, bringing you yet another glimpse of this 80s landscape I live in, except this time, a slightly darker, more sinister look at this 1980s world I call home.
Each release of music paints a picture. Be at one with it, for in the right frequency, it is always you.

Question Four-

Synthwave83- The Track – Gladiators from the album The Place Beyond is a work of art and my favorite. How much fun was it making that album?

Knight Wolf 1981– Thank you. Sculpting audio plains place you in the center of a magical universe where you transport yourself to experience an alternate reality. Close your eyes, and try it. Breathe. Listen. Constructing these reflections of self is indeed fun, it is indeed gratifying as it is pleasing. This outlay of sounds nestles together and resonates energy around my location; Miami, L.A., or further afield. I convey those stories to you in whatever form is necessary, bringing you into the 1980s with me. The good, the bad, the real, the unreal.

Question Five-

Synthwave83- It’s fair to say you are a massive arcade fan, do you feel like that helps or influences your music?

Knight Wolf 1981- Influences influence. Stories tell tales. Arcades live a heavy life. A maze of beauty within a carved piece of art, formed together to amplify humanity’s vulnerable emotions. Listen. Understand this.
Arcades are out there, they are forever, and they are pure. They can’t be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity or any kind of remorse or fear. They absolutely will never stop until you are free.

Bonus Question-

Synthwave83- This isn’t an easy question for you. What would you say was the best Game Development Company?

Knight Wolf 1981- There is one man, a legend of our time. A maker of dreams. A changer of lives. His name is Yu Suzuki, Sega’s truly gifted visionary of ultimate gaming superiority. I studied with Yu in ‘83 after my first experience of a time loop of the 1980s and we revisit each other during my loops through time, albeit it is almost a new recall process for each. I taught Yu drifting as we watched Cannonball Run repeatedly on VHS, discussing essential driving and performance techniques for elevating his drift racing to the next level as he also became one of the Drift City Lords.
Out Run, Hang-On, Space Harrier, After Burner, Power Drift, Turbo Out Run, Virtua Racing, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter, Shenmue. Yu is the Dream Maker.
Thank you for sharing my story, Dawn, and to the cyber generation of viewers reading as well. I’m heading off now to drive in a secret and exclusive race within winding green and red pastures of the neon Smokey Mountains. The prize is 10 million dollars. The 1980s are alive for all of us. All you have to do is believe. Be radical, future dudes.
